Michael Vuong, RPh

Michael Vuong, RPh, is Pharmacy Manager at CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy. After graduating from the Albany College of Pharmacy in 1999, he began a dynamic career in healthcare. His early professional path was rooted in chain retail pharmacy, where he gained valuable leadership experience as both a Pharmacist in Charge and in management roles.

Michael later transitioned to Medco Health Solutions and continued with Express Scripts following its acquisition of Medco. During this time, he held various positions and found his true focus at the HIV Therapeutic Resource Center, playing a pivotal role in leading key projects, managing strategic initiatives, and applying his expertise to raise the standard of patient care.

In 2017, Michael brought his experience to CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy. As Pharmacy Manager, he has collaborated with Sundeep "Sunny" Thakrar to drive development, innovation, and growth initiatives across the organization. In this capacity, he oversees front-end functions, customer service, and daily pharmacy operations, while also supporting clinical services, quality management, regulatory compliance, business operations, technology innovation, and staff development.

Dedicated to advancing the pharmacy profession, Michael maintains active pharmacist licensure in multiple states and focuses heavily on educating and mentoring future pharmacists. He also stays actively involved in state and national pharmacy associations and participates in community outreach programs that champion patient education, healthcare access, and ongoing professional development.
